Moonrise Kingdom follows two misfit 12-year-olds in 1965 New England who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together, prompting a frantic search as a storm approaches their island. Wes Anderson blends whimsical visuals, nostalgic charm, and heartfelt performances into a tender coming‑of‑age tale. Praised for its symmetry, rich color palette, and balance of humor and emotion, it’s widely considered one of Anderson’s most perfectly realized and endearing films.
